Clyde’s Columbia, MD | Restaurant Review

clyde's columbia md crab dip

A few weeks ago, I told you all I was headed to Clyde’s in Columbia, MD with my sister.

Well, we did indeed go and I want to tell you all about my experience.

Clyde’s Columbia, MD

Clyde’s has a few locations in the Washington, DC metro area but I decided on the Columbia location because I don’t like congested areas (DC), I don’t like to pay for parking (DC) and did I mention how I don’t like congested areas? Taking all of that into account, I decided on the Columbia location even though it is a half hour away. I didn’t mind the distance especially since I was driving the 2016 Kia Optima.

Before we placed our order, the blogger in me needed the internet (because God forbid I am out of touch with my email for a moment) and the waiter brought back two slips of paper with codes. Yes, their Internet is locked down like Fort Knox. Don’t think you’re about to waltz in and connect to their guest wifi without their knowledge. Unfortunately, my sister couldn’t connect her phone, so it didn’t help much for her.

Okay, on to the food. I ended up ordering the artichoke and crab dip as an appetizer. I LOVE crab dip and the main reason I came here is for the crab dip. Well, a few days after dining at Clyde’s I learned how to make crab dip so now I can save money by making it at home. Here’s the recipe.

Funny story – when the bread arrived, the butter on the side had large chunks of an unidentified substance on it.

Me: Sis, what is that?

Sis: I don’t know.

Me: So why did you spread it all over everything.

Sis: Because it’s butter.

Me: But there’s something sprinkled all over it. Do you think it’s salt?

Sis: *Too busy eating my crab dip*

Me: *spreads butter on a small piece of my bread, takes a bite* Ugh! Sis, it IS salt…salty salt…like really, really salty salt! Try it.

Sis: *Takes a bite* Oh! It is salt. Whoa, this is wayyy too salty. Ask the waiter for more bread when he comes back.

My entree? I played it safe and ordered the Grass Fed Hamburger with french fries.

I sent back the french fries because they were SUPER salty. Seriously, there were large chunks of salt on ALL of the fries. My new batch without salt was a-ok.

My burger was a bit too well done for my liking so I left most of it on my plate.

My sister ordered the Fried Baja Fish Tacos and in her words, “It was fine.”

After eating my sister and I went outside and had a photo shoot by the lake. There is a beautiful view outside of Clyde’s, and I really enjoyed the scenery.

All in all, I’d rate Clyde’s in Columbia a C+/B-. The food didn’t wow me nor was it good enough for me to go back again. Hey, we’re being honest right? The decor was nice. The staff was friendly. The lakefront view was beautiful.

Honestly, the best part of this entire experience was spending quality time with my sister and playing with Snapchat’s filters while we waited for our food. My sister isn’t into Snapchat, so the face swap filter freaked her out a bit.

Did I mention my sister took care of the bill? Score one for big sisters everywhere!!

All opinions are my own. I didn’t receive any compensation for this review.
