Am I the only one who looks forward to meals? I’m all about meal prepping. If I can prep my breakfast for the next few days on Sunday night – I will. One thing I love to make for breakfast is french toast. I first got introduced to french toast in college while I lived on campus. Now that I live on my own, I made sure I learned how to make it. I honestly thought it was somewhat of a difficult process, but it’s really not. If you like to meal prep like me or simply want to feed your household, check out my french toast recipe below. Of course, you can adjust the ingredients accordingly based on your tastebud’s likes.
French Toast Recipe
Ingredients
- sliced bread (I use the entire bag)
- 3 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 1/2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup (4 tbsp) melted butter
Instructions
- In large bowl or dish, crack open three eggs and beat them.
- Mix in the milk and vanilla extract.
- Add all of the dry ingredients: granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Stir/mix.
- Mix in the melted butter.
- Use medium heat to heat your pan/griddle.
- Before adding the bread make sure your pan/griddle has butter or a non-stick spray to prevent the bread from sticking.
- Dip the bread in your mixture, leaving each side in for 2-3 seconds. DO NOT leave your bread slice in the mix for too long because you don’t want it to be sappy and break apart.
- Once the griddle/pan is hot, and the butter or non-stick spray has been added, add the bread on top.
- Allow each side to toast until golden brown.
Allow the bread to cool before serving. I also add confetti sugar on top to give it extra taste.
What makes this entire process easier? Using my Cuisinart Power Advantage PLUS 9 Speed Hand Mixer. It comes with a storage case to store all the attachments – beaters, chef’s whisk, dough hooks, and spatula. This hand mixer has been a great addition to my kitchen. I’ve been baking non-stop since it arrived at my doorstep.
I usually eat my french toasts with scrambled eggs or an omelet with a side of fruits. What do you eat your french toast with?
