Making Time For Fitness

Working out isn’t easy but as we grow older we should try making time for fitness.

MAKING TIME FOR FITNESS

Here are 5 simple tips you can try to work up a sweat in little to no time.

Jogging During Commercials

Yes, during commercials of your favorite TV shows, get up and run in place or depending on the setup of your home, run around the kitchen table. If you watch TV shows like The Walking Dead or Scandal then you will really get a workout because the commercials seem to pop up every 2 minutes.

Dance Hour

Put on your favorite CD and dance, dance, dance. You can even use this time to try and learn a new dance and laugh at yourself while doing so. Dance like no one’s watching. Have fun.

Walk Farther Whenever You Can

If that means parking at the end of the lot at the grocery store, then do so. Get your steps in. Get a fitness tracker to track your steps to help give you a boost in meeting your daily steps goal. It also means taking the steps instead of the elevator or an escalator. Nothing gets the blood flowing like a few steps – trust me I know. I remember when I first moved into my apartment dorm back in college, I was on the fourth floor. At first, the steps were the absolute worst but due to the conditions of the elevators (drunk college kids – need I say more), I’d opt for the stairs and a few weeks in, and I could reach my floor without calling on the Lord for strength. The body is amazing how it builds up resistance after a while.

Calf Lifts

Yeah, you read that right. When was the last time you’ve worked out those calves? Whenever you’re on the phone or working on the computer, stand up and do as many calf lifts as possible in a minute. Rest for 1 minute, then do them again.

Side and Back Leg Lifts

While washing the dishes (do people still do that), do 100 leg lifts – 10 to each side and 10 to the back. Trust me, you’ll feel the burn in places you never knew existed. Tone the thighs and lift that but while cleaning the dishes, it’s a win-win for everybody.

As I mentioned earlier, working out isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but we have to do whatever it takes to keep our bodies moving for as long as we can. Maybe you’re not a “lift things up, put them down” bodybuilder, but little things each day can make a huge difference. Exercising can relieve stress, increase your energy, and boost your confidence. Whatever you decide to do, have fun while doing it.
